Dan possesses an unsurpassed, broad and deep knowledge base of all facets of the mortgage industry. His knowledge base includes expertise in origination, underwriting, marketing, loan packaging for the secondary markets and more. After receiving his Bachelor of Arts from San Diego State University in 1972, he worked as a Senior Loan Officer for Santa Fe Federal Savings and Loan Association. Dan originated residential first trust deed loans, and was the top producer for 3 of his 5 years with the company, which had 30+ loan officers. He also packaged over 1000 loans to sell to FHLMC, FNMA and private investors, with a delinquency rate of less than 1%.
In 1980 he founded Conventional Funding, which changed its name to Conventional Properties, Inc. to do real estate development and sales. From 1988 to 1995, he was the founder and CEO of Design Capital Financial. In 1996, Dan started a new mortgage company, 1st Guaranty Mortgage, which funded nearly $1 billion. In total, he has funded more than 15,000 loans personally, and his companies have funded over $5 billion in Real Estate. Dan has also raised significant amounts of venture capital to seed a number of startup enterprises. He has also been an investor and founder of a number of companies in both the retail and service sectors. He is considered by his peers to be a reliable and consistent source of expertise in a variety of market sectors across a range of industries.
